Access Statement for Quality Bed and Breakfasts

 

Introduction

• We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our home based 5 bedroom bed and breakfast. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help

Pre Arrival

• There is a bus stop opposite our front gates and there is a frequent bus service
• The main train station is 10 minutes away by car. There is a local taxi service that has accessible taxis if required. Menus can be provided in large print by prior arrangement or read.

Arriving and Car Parking Facilities

• On arrival to the property there are double entrance gates, these are open 24 hours when the B&B is operating.
• Marked parking bays and there is ample room for all cars
• The surface is level, flat and gravelled, however there is a footpath made of stone which covers the length of parking to the front entrance. We can assist guests with luggage.
• The centre is a fifteen minute walk from the bed and breakfast

Main Entrance and Reception

• The front entrance has a 3 step 10cm high. We have a temporary ramp available if requested (let us know if you need this and we will provide on arrival)
• The front door is 1m wide with a grab rail to the right.
• On entry into our home there is a lobby way and a hallway. Seating is provided in the hallway.

Public Areas - General (Internal)

• Our corridors to the ground floor bedroom are 800cm - 1.5m wide.
• Corridors have a good colour contrast and well lit.
• The flooring on all corridors on the ground floor is carpeted.
• The covering on stairs and upstairs corridors is short pile carpet
• One bedroom are on the ground floor.
• There are 7 stairs to a landing followed by a further 10 stairs to the first floor bedrooms
• The stairs are 18cm high, 24cm deep and 85cm wide.

Bedrooms

• All bedrooms have en suite facilities and are all individually furnished but detailed here as an example is the ground floor room, please call if more detail is required
• Main door widths are 80cm
• Most rooms will offer more than 1 metre access from at least one side of the bed
• Furniture is moveable by prior arrangement.
• Beds are 55cm high
• Televisions have remote control
• Divan beds are provided (without arms)
• Fitted short pile carpet on the floor

Ground Floor En Suite

• Door width 67cm, outward opening
• Free floor space clear has a step edge of 20cm high
• The basin is flat fronted and has clear under space. It is 86cm high and located within the bedroom.
• The toilet has left side transfer with available free space of 81cm. The toilet is 46cm high.
• Good colour contrast of floors, walls, fittings and fixtures.

Grounds and Gardens

• We have a small enclosed garden (flower border and lawn) for residents which is available to sit in (bench provided)

Additional Information

• Mobile phone reception good
• We are able to use the front and back doors in the need of evacuation and fire sirens sound continuously when evacuation is needed. If you require more assistance evacuating please notify us on arrival and we will ensure you are evacuated safely. E.g hearing impairment.
• All rooms have recently been upgraded to accommodate smoke detectors and fire sirens and 24 hr safety lights are on all stairs and landings.
• We are strictly a no smoking building (smoking is however allowed in the garden)
• Medication/food can be put into our main fridge on request (not available 24hrs)
